Hi — I'm

Bryce.

Mechanical Engineering & Management at McMaster, out of Huntsville, Ontario. I design things, print them, find out what's wrong with them, and then print them again.

Mostly I want to know
how it works.
why it broke.
what I’d change.
if I could print one.
how it works.

How I got here.

I’m from Huntsville, Ontario — up in Muskoka. I’ve always wanted to know what was inside things, and after a while that turned into wanting to design them. Now I’m at McMaster doing Mechanical Engineering & Management, which is that same curiosity with a lot more math attached.

01
Taking things apart
I was the kid who needed to know what was inside. Most things came apart fine. Putting them back together was the harder skill — and the one that actually taught me something.
02
Building with family
A lot of what I know I picked up standing next to someone who already knew it. Tools, repairs, jobs around the house. That’s where having a go at something stopped feeling intimidating.
03
Construction at Huntsville High
I took the Specialist High Skills Major in Construction, so I was working with real materials and real tolerances well before I opened a CAD program. Measure twice stopped being a saying and became a habit.

The rest of it.

Muskoka is a good place to grow up if you like being outside, and I do. Most of my time away from a screen goes to one of these three.

01  /  On the court
Basketball
Pickup whenever there’s a game going. Good for the part of my brain that needs to stop thinking about tolerances for an hour.
02  /  On the course
Golf
The sport that talked me into designing my own putter. The jury is still out on whether that helped my short game.
03  /  On the water
Fishing
Mostly an excuse to be out on a lake at an unreasonable hour. Catching something is a bonus, not the point.

Currently.

A snapshot of right now. I update it when it stops being true.

That’s me. Here’s the work.

The projects page walks through three builds end to end — brief, research, calculations, the prototypes that failed. The making log has the things I print for myself.
